EXPERIENCED NURSES ONLY!!! Emergency Department
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's Emergency Department is a Level Two Trauma. The Emergency Department is staffed and equipped to care for 36,000 patients a year presenting for emergency evaluation and treatment. An experienced nurse will assess and triage their care as they enter the department and ensure that thorough, consistent, high quality care is delivered to each patient. All of the nurses in the Emergency Department are certified in BLS, ACLS and PALS, but many also have their CEN, TNCC and ENPC certifications. Leadership supports and encourages nurses to enhance their educational expertise and professional development. MedStar Georgetown's Emergency Department prides itself on its collaborative governance and decision making which creates and implements new ideas centered on evidenced based practice. A team approach to staffing and assignments is a major initiative component that is embraced by the Emergency Department staff.
Two years of Emergency Department nursing experience required.
Experience in an academic medical center preferred.
Education and Certification:
BSN Preferred. Will consider candidates enrolled in a BSN program.
BLS, ACLS, PALS required. TNCC, CEN, ENPC preferred.
Self scheduling; Six Week Schedules
Fixed Shifts: Day Shift, Night Shift, Mid Shifts based on availability
PRN Available (must schedule to work at least five shifts per six week schedule)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing competent professional nursing care using the nursing process. These functions are performed in accordance with the District of Columbia Nurse Practice Act and all other applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. EDUCATION AND OR TRAINING REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. LICENSURE AND OR CERTIFICATION: Current D.C. license as a Registered Professional Nurse; current Basic Life Support (BLS). EXPERIENCE: To meet unit criteria. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to perform the nursing technologies. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to set priorities and work under stress.
