EXPERIENCED NURSES ONLY!!! Vascular Hepatology Medical-Surgical Intermediate Care Unit – 4 East
- 4 East is a 16-bed adult Vascular, Hepatology Medical-Surgical Intermediate Care Unit. Clinical Nurses on 4 East provide expert care for acutely ill patients who have a diverse range of medical and surgical diagnoses. We provide care to patients after complex open and minimally invasive vascular surgeries including carotid endarectomies and AAA repairs. 4 East is also the designated hepatology IMC unit for patients awaiting liver transplant. Medical diagnoses include end-stage renal disease, end-stage liver failure, chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, sepsis, CHF, COPD and GI bleeds. All beds are equipped to provide continuous cardiac and pulse oximetry bedside monitoring. 4 East has also been awarded the Gold Level Beacon Award for Nursing Excellence by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing.
Required: Two years of hospital-based telemetry nursing experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation.
Preferred: Experience on Intermediate Care or Step Down Units. Experience with anti-arrhythmic drips and insulin drips is an asset.
Education and Certification:
PCCN or CMSRN certification highly desirable
- 12 hour shifts
- 6 Week schedules; Self-scheduling
Rotating Shifts with opportunity for Fixed Shift Schedule (Day or Night Shift) based on availability; all new hires rotate until completion of probationary period
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing competent professional nursing care using the nursing process. These functions are performed in accordance with the District of Columbia Nurse Practice Act and all other applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. EDUCATION AND OR TRAINING REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. LICENSURE AND OR CERTIFICATION: Current D.C. license as a Registered Professional Nurse; current Basic Life Support (BLS). EXPERIENCE: To meet unit criteria. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to perform the nursing technologies. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to set priorities and work under stress.
