Position Summary: The Medical Assistant is a member of a multidisciplinary team designed to provide patient care under the direct supervision of a physician, nurse practitioner or nurse.

Position Expectations and Responsibilities:
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of injection sites and perform aseptic procedures. Have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
Demonstrate proficiency with STAR, HBOC, and Portal systems.
Perform office procedures including general administrative duties.
Collect patient demographics, data, vital signs, height, weight and basic information about patients' present and previous conditions.
Arrange examining room instruments and equipment.
Apply simple dressings and remove sutures or staples from superficial lacerations.
Administer medications orally, topically, vaginally or rectally.
Position, drape and shave patients.
Collect specimens using non-invasive techniques and preserve specimens for testing.
Perform venipuncture and perform pulse oximetry. Provide patient information and instructions.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:
One year certificate from college or technical school
One year related experience and/or training
Certified Medical Assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants or Registered Medical Assistant by the American Medical Technologists OR must obtain within 90 days of employment. Fee for RMA Exam reimbursed after successful completion.
Paramedic Florida license or LPN license
Current BLS certification from American Heart Association at time of offer.
