Retail Associate/Cashier - Food and Nutrition
The Retail Associate serves customers in a friendly, courteous, helpful and cheerful manner while providing quality service to the employees, students, doctors, volunteers and visitors of the hospital.
Displays, serves, handles and prepares food according to sanitary regulations.
Assures food that is palatable and appetizing in appearance prior to services.
Expected to perform all retail station responsibilities as assigned.
Portion, display and serve food in accordance with hospital and regulatory agency standards.
Take food temperature using calibrated thermometers as assigned.
Maintain all food and beverage supplies and machines. Refill retail refrigerators and maintain cleanliness.
Clean all retail surfaces as assigned. Responsible for the general order and cleanliness of the cafeteria area
Assemble dishes, eating and serving utensils.
Expected to work on special hospital functions when requested.
Maintain temperature logs as assigned.
Follow departmental closing procedures.
Follow cash handling standards at all times.
Communicate with culinary team service needs throughout shift.
Handle all customers with smiling face, respect and friendliness. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum six months of customer service/food service experience and/or training strongly preferred
Must be Capable of prolonged standing, walking continuously, frequently stooping, bending and lifting up to 50lbs. with assistance.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- *Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites.
- *The person in this position will work in a smoke-free location, and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.
