Summary: Reports to the Central Processing Supervisor. Receives and distributes time-sensitive specimens to appropriate laboratory departments while controlling patient/customer flow in and out of the lab. Documents specimen handling, and corrects errors according to laboratory protocol. Instructs physician offices and hospital staff as to proper specimen representation, labeling, and processing. Assumes phlebotomist duties in the outpatient drawing area and carries out various clerical duties as requested.
High School Education, with knowledge of medical terminology
Computer and /or keyboarding experience required
Proven excellent customer service skills. Problem solving skills. Ability to multi-task
Ability to work alone and make appropriate decisions following Laboratory guidelines. Detail oriented. Flexible / adaptable to many changes.
