Financial Counselor - Hospital Patient Billing
The Financial Counselor ensures collection activity on all Acute Care and Home Care outstanding patient-responsibility accounts. Handles heavy incoming and out-going customer service calls daily. Acts as a financial advisor and assists patients to identify and seek alternative financial resources, establish contracts for monthly payments or obtains payment for services rendered. Utilizes public relations expertise to handle escalating issues and serves as a customer service advocate and liaison on behalf of patients. This position is designed to strengthen, personalize and enhance relationships between the patient and Marshall Medical Center (MMC).
Knowledge of Medical Terminology strongly preferred. ·
A minimum of one year of related work experience in a hospital business office strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of ICD.9, CPT & HCPCS coding.
Previous PC, insurance billing software, collections, medical terminology in a caregiver setting experience preferred.
Working knowledge of workers compensation, CHDP, CMSP, Medi-Cal, MEDICARE, HMO, capitation, PACT, BCDEP and COBRA preferred.
Knowledge of federal, state and third-party billing regulations required. ·
Must have outstanding customer service skills and superior communication abilities in order to assists clients both effectively and tactfully.
Data entry and 10-key skill required. Ability to organize/prioritize workload is required. REQ.#7939
