Required. Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist
The Oncology Pharmacist provides optimal therapeutic medication regimens for Marshall Medical Center's (MMC's) Hematology/Oncology/Infusion Outpatient Clinic.
This position is responsible for inspecting all patient orders for accuracy, screening patients for drug side-effects and toxicity, and to ensure patients have sufficient education regarding the medications they are receiving through the infusion center, including home infusions. In addition, this position performs chemotherapy order entry and participates in double check systems for each and every chemotherapeutic agent ordered. The Oncology Pharmacist collaborates with oncology RN's, Oncologists and Hematologists to achieve exceptional pharmaceutical care of hematology and oncology patients. Oversees the application of pharmacy law with hospital/pharmacy/infusion policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis. This position also applies oversight for the role of the Pharmacy Technician.
Current State of California Board of Pharmacy License required.
Doctor or Pharmacy Degree or equivalent skill in clinical activities as determined by the Pharmacy Director.
Minimum of 3 years experience in an Oncology Hospital or Outpatient Clinic setting required.
Completion of American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) Accredited Residency preferred. ·
Ability to manage time productively for daily activities and projects.
The ability to maintain effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with current medical technology.
Knowledge and expertise with proper handling procedures of chemotherapy agents.
Knowledge and experience with a drug administration system such as Omnicell.
