Section Head - Pediatric Pulmonology
Six (6) years in rank as an Associate Professor or equivalent position at another institution is customary. Usually a minimum of 40 peer-reviewed publications will be necessary to be considered for this rank. Publications should be based on outstanding, original, and innovative research findings and/or important clinical applications of basic science. For appointment or promotion to this rank, the 10 most important first author/senior author publications will be reviewed for evidence of original and significant scholarship. As appropriate, the development and dissemination of intellectual properties may also be considered. Key individual in research and/or clinical training and active participant in the Center's educational programs. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, locally and nationally. Establishment of a national and/or international reputation as a researcher and/or clinician, especially as demonstrated by significant scholarship, publications, participation in NIH study sections and equivalent review groups, offices in professional societies, and/or prizes and awards. Recognition for superior accomplishments in a clinical specialty also is required. Established track record in funding an independent research program. This includes both salary or career development awards and competitive funding for the laboratory program. An established track record includes a demonstrated ability to renew competitive funding for the research program for multiple grant cycles. Contributions to build the Center's overall research program. Development/ management of core research facilities or funding a component of a program project grant or its equivalent are examples of this type of contribution.
