Clinical Care Coord Asst-HUB
Under general supervision, provides non-clinical administrative secretarial support for care coordination center activities. Primary responsibilities include ensuring data is accurate, timely process of insurance verifications, patient registration, timely notification of payer to ensure maximum reimbursement, facilitating benefit coverage for continuum of care needs, assisting with flow of information to continuum care providers and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
Registers patients in the system based on physician status so that bed placement can occur and a patient can be established. Verifies patients' insurance coverage, i.e., status (active), effective date, benefit levels, network or non-network, deductible amounts. Determines if pre-certification is required and precepts as necessary. Verifies continuum of care benefits on specific cases identified based on DRG level and possible continued care needs. Assists with the flow of information as requested. Notifies payer, as required, of patient's admission and level of care, either online or via telephone. Provides information to the Department of Human Services' caseworkers needed to release Medicaid spend downs for patients. Maintains time and attendance system for department. Assists with staffing duties as required. Monitors and orders office supplies.
Required skills: High school graduate or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred. Previous insurance background preferred. Work requires a level of knowledge of secretarial and office procedures relating to record keeping and filing. Must have knowledge of medical terminology and possess excellent spelling and grammatical skills. Must have experience working standard office equipment and with computers; requires accurate keyboarding skills of 45 wpm. Excellent interpersonal skills are required in dealing with patients, co-workers, insurance companies, physicians, ancillary departments and payers. Must be a team player. Must possess excellent telephone etiquette skills and be committed to providing excellent customer service. Ability to interpret data in situations where the problems are moderately complex, and coordinate the activities of the department. Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities while working in a fast-paced environment. Possesses the ability to direct and lead others. May work in other areas within the department when needed. Must be detail-oriented and have a high degree of organizational skills
