Pathology/Cytology Laboratory Supervisor - $5,000 Sign-on Bonus
Histology Laboratory: This department works midnight to 6:00pm Monday through Friday and on call as needed on weekends. The pathology Information System used is Sunquest CoPath. Leica instruments are used in the department including Leica ASP 6025 tissue processors and Leica Auto Stainer and auto coverslipper. We use the Cerebro specimen tracking system. We also use Ventana Benchmark Ultra IHC instruments and have a Daako IHC stainer.
Cytology Laboratory: This department covers from 8:00 to 4:30pm Monday through Friday primarily assisting with FNA procedures, processing and screening needle aspirate and non-gyn cytology
samples. The department is staffed with 2.8 cytotechnologists and one cytology prep tech.
Position Summary: The Pathology Laboratory Supervisor will oversee the technical operation of the Histology Lab and function as a working supervisor reporting to the Laboratory Operations Manager. The supervisor is responsible for leadership of the histology laboratory, the cytology laboratory, pathology administrative support personnel and processes, and ensuring procedural support for needle aspiration biopsy and intraoperative frozen section consultation in a busy, regional hospital with academic and research affiliations. This individual must work closely with physicians, all internal and external customers, supervise work, troubleshoot instruments, act as a resource to others, have experience in the areas of responsibilities, manage all referred pathology and molecular testing and must maintain an active Pathology QA program. The Pathology Supervisor will be responsible for the day to day operation of the department and is available 24/7 to assist employees on an as-needed basis. Individual is responsible for policies and procedures, quality control, quality assurance, supply inventory, ordering supplies, staffing, training and development and competency assessment. The Supervisor will be involved in capital equipment planning, budget input and monitoring and controlling expenses. The Supervisor will also be responsible for employee performance management such as setting goals, delegating, providing feedback, completing performance reviews, policy enforcement and ensuring the laboratory complies with BRRH, CLIA, Joint Commission, AHCA and other regulatory agency requirements.
Bachelor's degree with a Clinical Laboratory focus in Histology
Minimum 4 years of direct experience in comprehensive high volume Histology Lab required (to include surgical pathology, special staining, immunohistochemistry, frozen section assistance).
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required.
Florida State License as Supervisor of Clinical Laboratory Science in Histology
Florida License is required in the specialty of Histology
Knowledge of and experience in cytology processes and techniques preferred
HTL(ASCP) preferred, QIHC (ASCP) preferred
