The Registered Nurse (RN) assumes the accountability and responsibility as a professional nurse for providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care for an assigned group of patients. The RN is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN's duties include, but not limited to the following:Directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical practice standards. Collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supporting the organization's vision, mission and values. Utilizing knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Participating in and accepting responsibility for functions delegated to the team. Qualifications: Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Virginia is required. BSN is preferred; as of March, 2014, all new hire RN's with an Associate's Degree in Nursing will be required to obtain their BSN within five years. Minimum of one year current
RN acute care experience preferred.
At least 9 months in patient nursing experience requiredSuccessful completion of pre-placement/employment evaluationCPR (AHA Healthcare Provider) requiredTYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Some exposure to communicable diseases or toxic substances, ionizing radiation, therapeutic preparations and other conditions common to a health care environment.TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts, carries up to 35 pounds, and pushes items taking up to 50 pounds of initial force. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
