Baptist Health Medical Center-Stuttgart is seeking an OB/GYN to join the hospital staff. This person will be employed through Arkansas Health Group – a subsidiary of Baptist Health. This is an exciting opportunity to establish a new practice with the potential for sharing call with another OB/GYN. The previous OB/GYN left a very busy practice to pursue a teaching opportunity in a prestigious military facility.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has the drive and enthusiasm to build a practice that will provide comprehensive women's services so that patients do not have to travel to other cities for obstetric and gynecologic care.
The residents of Stuttgart have shown strong support for the 49-bed hospital as proven by the recent passing of a one cent sales tax that generates over $2.5 million dollars annually. This money has been reinvested into updating the hospital's facility and to purchase new technology including digital mammography and ultrasound equipment. Many other upgrades are planned in the next few years. Baptist Health Medical Center-Stuttgart also has three surgical suites, one endoscopy suite, a minor treatment room, and a separate outpatient surgical area.
The population of the hospital's service area is roughly 36,000. However, local primary care physicians not only care for patients in Stuttgart but also in six other rural health clinics located within a 50-mile radius of the city. These clinics serve an additional 15,000 patients. Last year, more than 57,700 primary care visits were serviced in those rural health clinics providing an OB/GYN a strong referral base. In addition there were 221 deliveries at Baptist Health Medical Center-Stuttgart in 2015, and that number can potentially continue to grow.
Regarding the city itself, Stuttgart is known as the duck and rice capitol of the world. For anyone who is a fan of outdoor activities, Stuttgart is a hunting and fishing paradise. Each year, hunters flock to the area for some of the best water fowl hunting that can be found. Deer hunting is also very popular. In addition, the World Championship Duck Calling Contest is held every November during the Wings Over the Prairie Festival that attracts more than 60,000 visitors annually.
The community has a state-of-the-art convention center and auditorium which was opened in 2011. Located on the campus of the Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas, the multi-purpose facility was built to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community. It hosts numerous events such as the Arkansas Ballet, local plays, receptions, and fundraiser dinners. Located just a short drive from Little Rock, Stuttgart is within easy reach of big city entertainment and dining, a national airport, and unlimited shopping. Come find a rewarding career at Baptist Health Medical Center-Stuttgart where you'll enjoy the warmth of a small town community but with close proximity to large city amenities. Requirements
