General Summary To perform and assist with general and vascular ultrasound procedures optimally resulting in quality examinations necessary for diagnostic purposes. Essential ResponsibilitiesCoordinates the preparation of general and vascular images and documentation for physician partners.Assists physician partner with procedural protocols.Assists in the service requirements of equipment by coordination of patient activities.Performs all diagnostic General and Vascular Ultrasound procedures with minimal guidance.Provides high quality General and Vascular Ultrasound images consistently and visually determine the acceptability/rejectability of each scan.Initiates times to read General and Vascular Ultrasound images with the cardiologists to aid in interpretation and to receive physician feedback.Completes checklists, writes clear narratives and/or enters data into computer files as appropriate.Maintains proficiency with all computer information systems pertaining to radiology / Ultrasound patient care.Documents and communicates patient related information thoroughly and accurately.Handles the majority of instructions/directions provided without assistance of other caregivers.Discerns when to seek assistance in order to ensure quality patient care.Seeks additional assignments when volumes are low to ensure maximum effectiveness of department.Works with adult and geriatric patients. Ensures patient safety and that patients are treated with courtesy, care and efficiency.Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all regulatory requirements in delivering patient care.Maintains aware of work/safety requirements and report areas of concern immediately to proper area for resolution.Knowledge and Skills Excellent organizational and time management skills, communication skills, problem solving skills, and mathematical/computer skills. Knowledge concerning anatomy, pathology, and physiology. Knowledge of general and vascular ultrasound physics and instrumentation.
Education High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Certification and Licensure Registered Diagnostic RDMS or ARRT Medical Sonographer in AB and RVT/RVS is required. Work Experience A minimum of one (1) year experience in healthcare, preferred.
