The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) delivers patient care as determined by the Physical Therapist and functions within the limits of the State of Missouri Healing Arts Practice Act.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides physical therapy services under the direction of the physical therapist and according to the physician's plan of care.
Assists the supervising therapist and the physician in evaluating the level of function by applying diagnostic and prognostic functional ability tests.
Directs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education; as well as gait, functional, ADL, transfer, and prosthetic training.
Observes, records, and reports to the physician and the supervising therapist the patient's response to treatment and changes in the patient's condition.
Adheres to all practice standards as they apply to patient care.
Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles change, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, meets attendance/punctuality requirements.

Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program required.
Minimum one (1) year experience in a Joint Commission accredited hospital. Minimum one (1) year experience in an acute rehab facility or equivalent serving the adult population. Six (6) months home care experience preferred. Computer skills preferred.
Current license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Missouri. American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification. Current driver's license and declaration of automobile liability insurance.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and to walk up and down flights of stairs. Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral communications, visual acuity, and the ability to read and understand written directions. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to lift, transfer, and move patient with weights of 10 – 200+ pounds and who vary with ability to assist. Ability to safely operate an automobile.
Frequent exposure to communicable disease via blood and body fluids. Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and hostile persons at times. Works with sharps and other potentially biohazardous materials. Variation in environmental temperatures. Exposure to various community environments.
