Experience is required JOB SUMMARYProvides quality nursing care through application
of the nursing process and established guidelines of nursing practice. Specializes in the
care of patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures.ESSENTIAL
RESPONSIBILITIES1. The major role of the radiology nurse is to provide continuous quality
nursing care for patients during their encounter in the Department of Medical Imaging.2.
The nurse is knowledgeable in meeting the physical and psychological needs of the
patient.3. The dynamic functions of the radiology nurse include role model, patient
advocate, medication and I.V. therapy nurse, department emergencies, monitoring critically
ill patients, liaison, documentation, resource person, inservice education, risk
management, quality improvement, and cost containment.MINIMUM EDUCATION
REQUIREMENTSGraduate of Professional Nursing School. BSN preferred.MINIMUM YEARS OF
EXPERIENCE REQUIREDMinimum of two years critical care nursing experience.REQUIRED LICENSE,
REGISTRY OR CERTIFICATIONCurrent license as a Professional Registered Nurse issued by the
New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Division of Consumer Affairs.
Certification in Radiology Nursing required when eligible to sit for examination. SPECIAL
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIREDCertificate for Venipuncture and Intravenous
Therapy; CPR (CPR certification is preferred. If not certified, certification must be
obtained within six months of hire. Courses will be provided by Hunterdon Medical Center),
Critical Care and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Documented competency in
interpretation of ECG and conscious sedation. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Good physical and mental health. Ability to provide advanced cardiac life support in
department and during patient transport. Ability to independently. Use of HIS, RIS, and PC
in clinical practice. HJ
