| Position Summary: Under the supervision of the registered nurse or physician, the dialysis tech facilitates patient care by meeting specific nursing requirements of patients. The technician is responsible for the maintenance and proper operation of equipment used in the dialysis unit, performing general medical duties, assisting with maintaining supplies in the dialysis unit, and assisting in the reuse program. Education: High school graduate or equivalent (GED). Successful completion of a dialysis training program through a Maryland state licensed school/training program. Certification of completion of a medical terminology course is preferred. Licensure/ Certification: Certification as a Nursing Assistant/Dialysis Technician by the Maryland Board of Nursing. Experience: Previous experience in clerical or receptionist position, hospital experience or satisfactory completion of a unit secretary training course is preferred. Six months successful experience as a Nursing Assistant in a general hospital preferred. Experience as a student nurse is an acceptable substitute for a Nursing Assistant Class. The student must have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing Care and obtained a Nursing Assistant Certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing. Skills: Secretarial and receptionist skills, medical terminology, good verbal and written communication skills. Patient care, treatments, and other delegated tasks as allowed by the Maryland Nurse Practice Act. Ability to prioritize and organize.
