| The Clerk/Phlebotomy Technician performs dual duties, serving as Phlebotomy Tech and Clerk for BMH Laboratory. Responsibilities include performing venipuncture, capillary draws, and related procedures on diverse patient age groups. Collects blood specimens for a variety of laboratory tests at different collection sites, for daily "Stat," Timed and Routine test orders. Assists with ordering, receiving or logging in specimens; follows up on unavailable specimens; relays patient laboratory test information and manages data through appropriate computer programs. Maintains phlebotomy trays/carts, work stations and equipment in a sanitary condition and replenishes and updates supplies. Also responsible for greeting and directing patients, processing orders, conducting a full review of tests, reviewing patient demographics and updating data fields, answering phones, and processing all outpatient reports.
